Emotions

Subconscious Dreams 24/7. The subconscious mind is not designed to show clear lucid images to the conscious mind, however it happens on rare occasions. Mostly the imagery from the subconscious runs in stealth mode, with a filter between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind preventing clear visuals. After all, it would interfere with the incoming visuals being received through the physical eyes, creating a constant state of hallucinations, like with patients in mental hospitals This stealth mode gives us the effect of being in control, instead of being controlled. The subconscious imagery is influencing and controlling all our thoughts, words and action.

Well, it is life that creates the universe and not the other way around. Everything living has emotions. Our emotional inheritance goes back into eternity. In comparison, thinking is a very recent development.

If you’re angry or irritated or in some similar mood, then try to notice you also cannot think well, you cannot remember well, you cannot work well. All of your functions are diminished. This will enable you to find out many other things you can observe. It is impossible to have a negative emotion and at the same time do something positive, or right, or even think positive or right. You must realize that as long as negative emotions exist no development is possible because development means development of all there is in a man.

There is one thing that needs to be understood, negative emotions cannot develop. When you have learnt not to express, and not to suppress, and not to identify with negative emotions, and you can remember yourself, you are well on the way. Double-arrow awareness, self-consciousness, is much faster than emotions and it is the only thing that can control them. It will take time and effort to increase your awareness to this point. Stop not only the external manifestation of the emotion; clearly see the cause of it and transmute that too; you need to transmute, transform, the cause of the expression. Emotion is one thing, expression of it is another, and the cause of the expression is quite another. You need to clearly see the difference.

Emotion is much quicker than a thought, but emotion rarely lasts long; it is a temporary thing. Our thoughts however can be made continuous, so whenever the emotion jumps out, make the thought against it continuous; and if this thought is coupled with awareness, the emotion would not manifest itself. Emotion manifests itself through the gaps in thinking and periods of unconsciousness.

If you cannot stop expression of negative emotions, you will never have enough energy for anything else.

Negative emotions can in a few seconds waste the entire amount of excess energy the organism can produce in 24 hours, not so with thoughts.

According to Ouspensky, potential speed of emotional center (brain) is about 900,000,000 times faster than intellectual brain (neocortex, thinking brain), and about 30,000 times faster than instinctive/moving brain. I do not know by what means was this measured I doubt this very much, if for no other reason, then because speed of thoughts can greatly vary, as we can see from other material. On top of that; at the SupraConscious level we can understand almost infinite amount of information. Let it suffice to say that the energy, and the speed of emotions on average is much higher than that of thoughts.

As I said, I have my reservations of this being even remotely close to the fact.  First, we do not have means to measure the speed and power of the emotions; and second speed of thoughts is variable and can operate on different frequencies. With practice we can hold a thought in mind and make it consistent, and when you put that consistent thought up against your emotions, which are more fleeting, that thought will affect the emotions. However, primordial emotions can be so powerful as to render useless our entire reasoning power.

Our emotions also come on many levels and at various energy and speeds. On top of that on us and in us live over 600 trillion living beings, each with their own emotions, able to affect ours at any given time.
